This initiative aims to strengthen research collaborations between Malta-based and CNR researchers by providing seed grants for small-scale projects that pave the way for larger future research efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Il- <strong>SPIRE: Seed Grants for International Research Programme<\/strong> enhances Malta\u2019s international research collaboration by facilitating joint calls with international partners. Through multi-annual calls, SPIRE supports projects that foster research partnerships, promote knowledge exchange, and serve as a foundation for larger-scale initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding &amp; Project Details for the Xjenza Malta-CNR Joint Call<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Funding:<\/strong> Up to <strong>\u20ac12,000 for the Malta-based consortium (at least one Malta-based partner)<\/strong>. The financial contribution to Malta-based entities shall be 100% of the eligible costs incurred.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project Duration:<\/strong> <strong>24 months<\/strong> (1 January 2026 \u2013 31 December 2027)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> <strong>29th May 2025, 12:00 PM CET<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Technology Readiness Levels (TRL):<\/strong> <strong>1\u20137<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thematic Areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Proposals must align with at least one of the following focus areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marine and Maritime<\/li>\n<li>Digital Technologies<\/li>\n<li>Health<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Use of Resources<\/li>\n<li>Smart Manufacturing<\/li>\n<li>Aerospace, Aviation, and Space<\/li>\n<li>Cultural Heritage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who Can Apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each consortium must include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least <strong>one eligible Malta-based entity<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At least <strong>one CNR researcher<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Projects should be <strong>balanced<\/strong> in terms of workload and funding distribution between the two partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility and Application Process <\/strong>(click links to download\/view the documentation)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To be eligible, applicants must be a Malta-based entity, including Private Entities, Public Entities, and Research and Knowledge Dissemination Organisations, with an operating base in Malta in accordance with the SPIRE <a href=\"https:\/\/xjenzamalta.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/National-Rules-State-Aid-1.pdf\">Click to download the State Aid<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/xjenzamalta.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/National-Rules-Non-State-Aid.pdf\">Click to download the Non-State Aid<\/a> National Rules for Participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Malta-based applicants must also follow the <strong>Xjenza Malta-CNR 2025 Call Text<\/strong><strong>. <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/xjenzamalta.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Call-Text-1.pdf\">Click to view Call Text.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Applicants must complete and submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/xjenzamalta.mt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/SPIRE-2025-National-Application-Form_Final_v2.docx\">Click to download the National Application<\/a> Form duly signed and supported by the required Annexes.
