Funding Opportunity for Malta-based Researchers to Join R&I proposals under various Horizon Europe Partnerships – Apply Now!
Are you looking for funding to participate in international R&I projects within Horizon Europe Partnerships where Malta is not an official funding partner?
The Access2Partnerships (A2P) Scheme 2026 is now open! This scheme enables Malta-based researchers to participate as self-funded partners in transnational R&I projects across more than 50 European initiatives covering health (e.g. pandemic preparedness, rare diseases, personalised medicine), climate, energy and mobility, digital technologies, food and bioeconomy, natural resources, and environmental research.
Funding Opportunities:
- Support for Malta-based self-funded partners up to €300,000 per project (first-come, first-served basis)
- Assistance with administrative processes, including Letter of Intent for eligible applicants. This letter may be required during the Partnership’s pre-proposal or full-proposal submission as proof of funds availability for the self-funded partner.
Eligibility & Application Process
Applicants must participate as self-funded partners in proposals submitted to a Joint Transnational Call (JTC) of interest and submit their national applications to the A2P Scheme via email at eusubmissions.xjenzamalta@gov.mt
For each proposal, the National Application Form and all relevant Annexes must be submitted:
- By the JTC pre-proposals deadline set by the relevant Partnership when a Letter of Intent is not required at the pre-proposal stage;
OR
- No later than 15 working days before the JTC pre-proposal deadline, if a Letter of Intent is required at the pre-proposal stage.
It is the Applicant’s responsibility to verify the requirements concerning self-funded partners and whether a Letter of Intent is needed at the pre-proposal or full proposal stage.
Failure to provide a requested Letter of Intent to the relevant Partnership Secretariat may result in ineligibility.
Contact Xjenza Malta in advance to confirm the applicable national submission timelines, particularly if the 15-working-day deadline is applicable, to confirm the exact deadline date and avoid late applications.
