Funding Opportunity for Malta-based Researchers in Water Management, Farming Systems & Agro-Food Value Chain – Apply Now!
Malta-based entities are eligible to apply for up to € 500,000 in funding, allowing them to join a consortium and submit a proposal for this Call (N.B. if multiple national partners are included in a single consortium, the total funding for all Maltese participants combined cannot exceed the €500,000 cap).
PRIMA Participating States fund transnational R&I projects addressing the scope and objectives of the PRIMA Section 2 multi-topic call tackling the following topics:
- Thematic Area 1: Water Management in the Nexus
- Topic 2.1.1 (RIA) Enhancing Policy Development through Impact-Driven Water Footprint and Virtual Water Concepts in the Mediterranean Region
- Thematic Area 2: Farming Systems in the Nexus
- Topic 2.2.1 (RIA) Upscaling Agroecology Practices at the Farm Level in the Mediterranean
- Thematic Area 3: Agro-food Value Chain in the Nexus
- Topic 2.3.1 (RIA) Towards a Plant-Based Alternative Protein products Transition in the Mediterranean Region
Eligibility & Application Process
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Carefully review the Call text 2025 and Guidance for applicants: Click to view the call text 2025 and Guidance.
- Ensure to form a consortium with eligible partners from PRIMA Participating States to be considered for funding. (PRIMA Participating States list can be found on the Click here to access the PRIMA website)
- Be a Malta-based entity, including private and public organisations, Research & Knowledge Dissemination Organisations (RKDOs), and other, with an operating base in Malta in accordance with Click here to download the National Rules – State Aid or Click here to download the National Rules – Non-State Aid ;
- Complete and submit a Click here to download the National-Application-Form-Final duly signed and supported by the required Annexes. These annexes can be downloaded from the Xjenza Malta Resource Page: Click here to access the Resource Page (Application Resources).
Application Deadlines
- Project coordinator needs to submit the full proposal via the PRIMA Electronic Submission System (ESS) by the 8 July 2025, 17:00 CET
- Each Malta-based applicant must submit a National Application Form to prima.xjenzamalta@gov.mt by the 8 July 2025, 23:59 CET.
