Sustained Collaboration of Funders to Support Cancer Translational Research (TRANSCAN-4) is a pan European initiative, aiming to establish a structured and sustainable collaboration mechanism among national and regional cancer research funders to support translational research and accelerate its clinical application for patient benefit. As a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) Project, TRANSCAN-4 brings together 19 organisations from 15 countries, from Central, Southern, Eastern, and Western Europe, as well as international partners from Canada and Taiwan, further enhancing the global relevance and collaborative potential.
Xjenza Malta together with other Research Funding Organisations have launched the Joint Transnational Call 2026 to financially support R&I projects.
Malta-based entities are eligible to apply for funds up to €300,000 per project, to join a consortium and submit a proposal under the JTC2026 entitled: “Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism: Multidisciplinary Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment.”
Eligibility & Application Process
To be eligible applicants must:
- Carefully review the relevant Call text and Guidance for applicants
- Be a Malta-based entity with an operating base in Malta in accordance with the National Rules for Participation (State Aid or Non-State Aid)
- Complete and submit a signed National Application Form and supported by the required Annexes as stipulated in the rules.

Application Deadlines
- Project coordinator needs to submit the pre-proposal via the TRANSCAN-4 Submission Tool by 21 July, 12:00 CET.
- Each Malta-based applicant must submit a signed National Application Form and relevant Annexes to eusubmissions.xjenzamalta@gov.mt by 21 July 2026, 23:59 CET.
