Xjenza Malta, in collaboration with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), has launched the 6th Xjenza Malta-TÜBİTAK 2026 Joint Call for R&I Proposals. This initiative aims to foster cooperation in science, technology, and innovation between Malta and Turkey by supporting researchers and innovators in strengthening their scientific expertise and networks.

 

This Call will focus on two distinct pillars:

  • Pillar 1: PRIMA Thematic Areas

These areas include:

  1. Management of Water
  2. Farming System
  3. Agro-Food Value Chain
  • Pillar 2: Shared National Priority areas:
  1. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  2. Smart Manufacturing
  3. Health

 

Funding & Project Details for the Xjenza Malta- TÜBİTAK 2026 Joint Call

  • Funding: Up to €100,000 for the Malta-based consortium (at least one Malta-based partner).
  • Project Duration: Up to 24 months 
  • Application Deadline: 5 June 2026, 23:59 PM CET
  • Technology Readiness Levels (TRL): 1–7.

 

Who Can Apply?

Each consortium must include:

  • At least one eligible Malta-based entity
  • At least one eligible Turkey-based entity

 

Projects should be balanced in terms of workload and funding distribution between the two partners.

Eligibility and Application Process (click links to download/view the documentation)

To be eligible, applicants must be a Malta-based entity with an operating base in Malta, in accordance with the Xjenza Malta-TÜBİTAK guidelines. Private Entities must comply with the State Aid National Rules for Participation (Click to Download), while Public Entities and Research and Knowledge Dissemination Organisations must adhere to the Non-State Aid National Rules for Participation (Click to Download).

  • Applicants must complete and submit the National Administrative Form (Click to download) & the Joint Application Form (Click to download) duly signed and supported by the required Annexes. These can be downloaded from the Xjenza Malta Resources page.
  • Malta-based applicants must submit the National Administrative Form, Joint Application Form & required Annexes to prima.xjenzamalta@gov.mt  keeping Mr. Nathan Aquilina (nathan.aquilina.3@gov.mt) in copy, by 5 June 2026, 23:59 PM CET.
  • Turkey based entities must follow their own submission process as outlined by TÜBİTAK regulations.
